The bark-on frame, done with naturally-bending hickory logs, brings an innate elegance to this futon with an 8-inch, inner-spring mattress. Among the most dense and durable hardwoods in North America, we kiln-dry our hickory to remove moisture and tighten the bark around the logs to accentuate the dazzling array of textures. The mortise and tenon joinery used in this piece is as durable and reliable today as it was when introduced thousands of years ago. This futon is available as a finished piece that can't be disassembled completely, and one that can be completely disassembled to fit through tight spaces. The standard finish draws out the natural colors in the wood and seals and protects. All of our handcrafted pieces are sourced and made in the USA.
